When Navy SEAL veteran Rich Diviney wrote a book about the hidden drivers of optimal performance, he and his wife Kristen had no idea it would spark a global phenomenon. Five years later, their company The Attributes, Inc. offers leadership and team optimization workshops to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and organizations across various sectors, including McLaren Automotive, Ernst & Young Caribbean, Rokt, and Corcept.
At the core of their offering a specialized assessment that measures a person’s natural aptitudes across 41 different attributes‌ — ‌the innate characteristics that determine how we perform and behave. But scaling the assessment required a technology solution that could grow with their business without breaking the bank. That’s where Bubble comes in.

Working with Silver agency partner LowCode Agency, The Attributes developed their platform in just four months — 30% faster than traditional development estimates and at one-third the cost. The investment paid off quickly, with the company breaking even on all development costs within seven months of launch, while serving thousands of users from high-profile corporate and government clients.

From bestselling book to digital assessment platform
Rich’s book’s success led to global speaking engagements and consulting opportunities, but Kristen noticed something while listening in on sales calls: Everyone who read the book was curious about their own attributes.

“It became clear very early on that when they read the The Attributes, everybody wanted to know what theirs were, personally,” Kristen says.

The company initially experimented with a basic assessment created by psychometricians. They began offering it as a free, simplified version to users while they continued developing their workshops and consulting business.

But as demand grew, they knew they needed a robust, scalable platform for their assessments. They initially considered custom development on platforms like AWS. But these approaches came with major drawbacks: lengthy timelines, high costs, and the need to have all requirements defined upfront.

“We felt uncertain about whether we knew exactly what we needed from the outset,” Kristen says. “If we got it wrong, it would have been very expensive to start adjusting.” So they started shopping for alternative solutions.

Building a multi-layered assessment platform on a tight deadline
Another problem with the proposals they got for more traditional solutions was speed. “We had deadlines from clients, and anyone we’d spoken to had said they couldn’t build it that fast,” Kristen told us.

The team had previously used a combination of various no-code platforms for other projects and began looking for agencies that specialized in the space. This led them to LowCode Agency, who evaluated their needs and recommended Bubble as the best solution for the assessment portal they envisioned. Development began soon after.

The entire system was built in just four months, at least 30% faster than even the most optimistic traditional development estimates. “We came to them with a screaming hot deadline, but LowCode Agency promised‌ — ‌and delivered,” she says.

Today, The Attributes’ platform manages multiple types of assessments, including the full 41-attribute assessment and a trust-focused assessment for teams.

The system handles a complex hierarchy of users, including super admins who can configure system-wide settings, first- and second-tier client managers (company admins and team managers), and individual users. This structure allows for fine-tuned permissions. Super admins can decide which actions different user types can perform‌ — ‌for example, whether second-tier managers can purchase assessments for their teams.

The platform creates visually appealing, downloadable PDF reports that users can share, and includes a growing library of workbooks and resources. Team managers can purchase assessments for their teams, and once everyone completes the assessment, the manager can see the team’s metrics in a dashboard. Organizations often retake assessments to track improvements over time.

A third of the cost and break-even in 7 months
The Attributes’ investment in their Bubble-powered platform has paid off in big ways.

The project cost approximately one-third of the quotes they received for traditional development paths. Even more impressive, The Attributes broke even on all development and maintenance costs within seven months of launch.

Today, the platform serves thousands of monthly users from high-profile clients and scales to accommodate large projects‌ — ‌like an upcoming rollout to 1,300 users at once. Throughout it all, Bubble enables rapid addition of new features based on user feedback, something that would be prohibitively expensive with traditional development.

“You can implement a new feature in a day, basically. I don’t think that with traditional software things would move so fast.”

Kristen stresses that one of Bubble’s biggest advantages is the speed of iterations: “You can implement a new feature in a day, basically. I don’t think that with traditional software things would move so fast.”

With the platform now thriving, The Attributes is shifting focus to marketing, particularly to individual users‌ — ‌a B2C market they hadn’t previously targeted despite their successful B2B workshops. Their ongoing refinements based on user feedback showcase the adaptability that made Bubble their perfect match.

“The collaborative effort has been extraordinary,” Kristen says. “Bubble is so user-friendly from a price point, and from the ability to iterate and collaborate and learn as you go. We’ve just had such a positive experience; we’re very grateful.”
